Arranging and performing
Summary of task
Students had to determine a community activity at which they could perform. They had to select repertoire and identify what style and form would suit the community performance. Students used their understanding of music making in different cultures, times and places to inform and shape their arrangement for the arrangement brief: a song for performance in an aged-care home.
The students developed their own arrangements of the traditional folk songs. Performances of the traditional English folk song Greensleeves, and the traditional Irish folk song The Last Rose of Summer featured in their final visit to an aged-care home. These are discussed in their oral reflections.
