In Civics and Citizenship, students learn about and apply the ethical concepts which underpin Australia’s democracy: equality, respect and fairness. Students investigate diverse cultural and social contexts and develop skills to see common issues through a range of lenses. They explore the role of shared beliefs and values in an evolving Australian identity and practise empathy and respectful dialogue to understand different perspectives. Students plan for, and engage in, civic participation and develop and apply respectful relationship skills through working constructively and collaboratively to achieve agreed goals.
