Summary
At the time of filming St Stephen’s Carramar had 490 students F–6. The school’s emphasis is on developing students, with the curriculum as the platform and context. Both teachers and students are encouraged to take risks in the learning process. Integration of learning areas has been a key to managing the Australian Curriculum. The school began with an audit of what was already in place, assessed it against the Australian Curriculum and adopted and adapted, seeking areas for improvement.
St Stephen's School is a Uniting Church co-educational school in Western Australia with two campuses for Pre-Primary – Year 12 at Carramar and Duncraig. The school’s mission is "working together as a Christian community in the Uniting Church tradition to inspire learning that transforms and empowers lives". The school seeks to provide an environment that will encourage young people to become self-confident, respectful of others, enquiring of mind, equipped for life-long learning and committed to serve in the community. The school has a strategic intent “to change the world, one person at a time”. Staffing at St Stephen's School Carramar includes two deputy principals, specialists in the areas of library, visual art, physical education, music, French and Biblical studies, and a Learning Enrichment team that assists students in the areas of support, and gifted and talented education
