Portfolio summary
This portfolio of student work shows that the student can evaluate features of Australia’s political system, and identify and critically analyse the influences on people’s political choices (WS1). The student explains the key principles of Australia’s system of justice, and analyses the role of Australia’s court system. They analyse a range of factors that influence identities and attitudes to diversity. They analyse how groups participate and contribute to civic life (WS1).
The student can analyse a range of questions to investigate Australia’s political and legal systems, and can critically analyse information gathered from different sources for relevance and reliability. They compare and analyse different interpretations and points of view on civics and citizenship issues (WS1). When planning for action, the student takes into account multiple perspectives (WS1), uses democratic processes, and negotiates solutions to an issue. They develop and present evidence-based arguments on civics and citizenship issues using detailed texts; and precise, subject-specific language and concepts (WS1). They analyse ways to be an active and involved citizen in different contexts (WS1).
