Science - Satisfactory - Year 9
Portfolio summary
This portfolio of student work shows that the student can explain chemical processes (WS1, WS2) and natural radioactivity (WS3) in terms of atoms and energy transfers and describe examples of important chemical reactions (WS1, WS2, WS4). The student describes models of energy transfer and applies these to explain phenomena (WS7). The student explains global features and events in terms of geological processes (WS4) and timescales. The student analyses how biological systems function and respond to external changes with reference to interdependencies, energy transfers and flows of matter (WS6). The student describes social and technological factors that have influenced scientific developments (WS2).
The student identifies questions that can be investigated (WS5, WS8). The student designs methods that include the control and accurate measurement of variables and systematic collection of data, (WS1, WS4, WS5, WS8) and describes saftey considerations. (WS4, WS8). The student analyses trends in data and identifies relationships between variables (WS4, WS5, WS7, WS8). The student analyses their methods and the quality of their data, and explains specific actions to improve the quality of their evidence (WS4, WS5, WS8). The student uses appropriate language and representations when communicating their findings and ideas to specific audiences (WS1, WS2, WS3, WS4, WS5, WS6, WS7, WS8).
