Summary of task
Students were asked to use dance to explore an issue facing the youth of today in a four-week unit. They were assessed in a summative task that included making (choreography and performance) and responding. Students selected and organised the elements of dance, choreographic devices and form to communicate their choreographic intent.
Students were asked to perform their choreography with confidence and clarity and with technical and expressive skills appropriate to the dance style. They were later asked to respond to the dance they made by identifying and analysing the elements of dance, choreographic devices and production elements they employed to communicate meaning and intent. At the end of the unit they performed using Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling! (2016) before their peers in class.
